A bench warrant has been issued for a Leixlip man charged with damaging a Garda station.

Gerard Ryan was not present when his case was called at Kilcock District Court on 19 June last.

Mr. Ryan (45), 1 Glen Easton Green, Glen Easton, Leixlip, is charged with causing damage at Maynooth Garda Station on 15 March 2012.

David Powderly, solicitor for Mr. Ryan, said his client told him he was unwell but he had no note from a doctor.

Judge Desmond Zaidain questioned if Mr. Ryan was on his way back from Poland.

Mr. Powderly responded that his client had a “sore leg.”

Garda Inspector Jim Doyle said Mr. Ryan might be ill but Judge Zaidan opted to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
