Michael Hanrahan may have been used to money talk in his previous career as AIB Bank manager in Newbridge but now, in his new role as critically aclaimed artist, he has been appointed ‘artist in residence’ at the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel owned by billionaire Donald Trump writes Paula Campbell.
Michael plans to ‘capture on canvas’ some of the changes at this world famous golf links in Co Clare. He is also looking forward to painting the stunning scenery at Doonbeg.
Michael became an art lecturer with Cunard International after he retired from AIB in Newbridge.
He has just returned from a cruise on Queen Victoria where he visited the Baltic countries and St Petersburg.
He teaches watercolour painting to the guests onboard. Earlier this year he travelled on Cunard’s World cruise to Florida, Barbados, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.
Michael, who has also painted Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Taylor and Queen Elizabeth II, recently presented Caroline Kennedy with his work in New Ross during the 50th anniversary celebrations last summer.
His works hang in Buckingham Palace, The White House, The Kennedy Library in Boston and Aras an Uachtaran.
