Fatimole Adefabi (17) was with a group in a river at the Castletown House Estate when he got into trouble around 4pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Fatimole, who lived in Springfield Drive in the Ballymakealy area, was not in the water long according to reports.

Friends pulled him from the water and called for emergency services and began CPR on him.

The Fire Brigade and ambulance crew used a defibrillator on him at the scene and he was rushed to Blanchardstown Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 5pm.

Fatimole, who went to Salesian College, was well known for his talent as a footballer. He was very friendly with local band Fresh Re, which shot to national fame following an appearance on YouTube.

A source close to the group said the group had considered calling off their gigs but opted to play and dedicate the concert to Fatimole’s memory.
