Education and Science Minister Ruairi Quinn visited Naas to announce changes in the running of Education and Training Boards.
Some 16 ETBs across Ireland were established to replace Vocational Educations Committees - of which there were 33.
Minister Quinn visited the Pipers Hill College campus, which also houses the ETB headquarters yesterday and detailed changes to take place next year.
A number of ETBS currently have large boards.
“To ease the transitional process from VECs to ETBs it was vital that existing VEC members automatically became members of the new training boards,” Mr. Quinn said.
They will continue in office until the 2014 local elections.
After these elections each ETB will comprise 21 members composed of 12 local authority representatives, 2 staff reps, 2 parents’ reps and 5 community reps.
