Rail lines have reopened after a fatality this morning on the track at Kildare town railway station.

A man was struck by the Dublin-cork train at approximately 10.30am this morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire brigade, ambulance, gardai and a local doctor attended the station.

Local gardai say they are investigating a “sudden death” at the station. Several members of the public present at the time of the man’s death, but the station was not busy.

The rail lines were closed into and out of Heuston Station for several hours, but reopened around 1pm.
