Ladbrokes raider escaped on a mountain bike

On Saturday, July 21, at 7pm, a lone male armed with knife, entered Ladbrokes betting office in Clane.

On Saturday, July 21, at 7pm, a lone male armed with knife, entered Ladbrokes betting office in Clane.

The threatened staff and customers and demanded money from the cashier. He made off with a quantity of cash and mobile phone on a mountain bike up the Balinagappa Road.

He was wearing a grey tracksuit, black jacket and white towel covering his face.

Gardai were immediately alerted and following a search operation and with assistance from witness, made their way to a safe house in the Loughbollard estate. Following a search a suspect was found and arrested on suspicion of robbery. All money and stolen property was recovered, as was the weapon used.

The suspect is a 21 year old local man. He was detained at Naas Garda Station and charged.

He appeared appeared before Judge Zaidan at a special sitting of Kilcock District Court at 3.30 pm on Sunday, 22 July.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Naas District Court tomorrow Wednesday, July 25.
