Motorists are whizzing through red lights at the new Rathbride Road traffic signals in Kildare town, simply because they do not know they are there,
Cllr Tony O’Donnell recently asked Kildare County Council to erect signage on the road to notify motorists of the new traffic lights at Rathbride Abbey.
“A number of residents said they have seen cars breaking the lights just because they did not notice them,” said the councillor. He said he was conscious of the number of children on the road because of the Gaelscoil in the area.
The councillor was told that the issue is being considered at present by the Roads Design Section of the council and the Area Engineer. Cllr O’Donnell said that was “fine”, but noted that urgency is needed on the matter.
