Young’s Pharmacy in Newbridge celebrated 125 years in business last Tuesday week.
The family-run pharmacy, which is the second oldest business in Newbridge and was once known as Youngs Medical Hall, celebrated by offering tea and cake to customers as well as a chance to win a hamper.
“My great grandfather William Young was a pharmacist and he started the business,” said David Young,
“It has gone through four generations of Youngs and we have seen many changes. Pharmacy is changing and evolving all the time compared to my father’s time. Technology has improved alot and we now provide consultation areas which is a confidential service. People are also more informed about the medicines they require.”
There are 10 full time and part time employees currently employed in the pharmacy and the celebratory cake was made by Elizabeth Donnelly.
