TWO new schools earmarked for Celbridge have reached the preliminary design stage, Kildare North TD Emmet Stagg, has been told.
Deputy Stagg said he met the Minister for Education to review delivery of the new post primary and primary school in Celbridge, on which building is due to start “in 2015/2016”.
Deputy Stagg said the post primary school will accommodate 750 pupils and will include a special needs unit.
It will be under the management of Co. Kildare VEC.
The new primary school will provide permanent accommodation for the existing 16-classroom St. Patrick’s National School on the Hazelhatch Road. Both of the schools will be located on an 11-acre campus located at The Commons, Hazelhatch Road, Celbridge.
The Minister said outline planning permission had been secured for the entire campus development and that both schools were at “preliminary design” stage.
Deputy Stagg said it was critical for the educational needs of Celbridge children that both new schools stuck to the time frame outlined in the Department’s five-year Capital Plan.
