President Michael D Higgins will be in Naas tomorrow (Wednesday).
He is to visit McAuley Place which has seen a former convent and parish centre, almost one and a half centuries old, transformed to provide inter-generational community facilities and independent living units for the over 65s.
McAuley Place at Sallins Road was developed by Nás na Ríogh Housing Association Ltd. (NnRHA) and consists of 53 self-contained apartments, tea rooms, and other facilities.
His visit takes place in the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between the Generations. Pres. Higgins will plant a tree to mark the next phase of the development which is to build a Health through Learning Centre in a derelict but beautiful old building and the creation of an interactive garden.
