GARDAI are investigating the cause of a substantial fire a portabcabin enterprise on the outskirts of Kill, writes Paul O’Meara.

Units of the Fire Service based at Naas and Newbridge as well as water tankers fought for about four hours to bring the fire under control in the early hours of Monday morning.

The blaze broke out shortly after 2am at Roankabin’s premises, Old Milltown, about three miles from Kill.

Some 9 portacabins were destroyed in the fire – which could be seen some distance away - and a similar number were less seriously damaged.
