A lorry driver who was in Naas District court for dangerous driving had his conviction reduced to careless driving and was fined €350.

Joseph Dunne with an address listed as 3345 Oaklands, Kilmeague, Naas was reported to gardai on July 29, 2011 for overtaking a tractor on a continuous white line while approaching a dangerous bend in Kilmeague. Judge William Early agreed to reduce the conviction as there was no accident and nobody hurt and the defendant would lose his job if he lost his licence.

However Judge Early warned the full time lorry driver that “if somebody is confronted by a lorry on the wrong side of the road immediately after a bend then they are going to be killed”.
