New Leixlip chair congratulates Leader

LEIXLIP native, Colm Purcell, has been elected chairperson of Leixlip Town Council.

LEIXLIP native, Colm Purcell, has been elected chairperson of Leixlip Town Council.

This is the fourth time the Labour councillor has served in the role of the north Kildare/Leixlip authority, which began in 1988 as Leixlip Town Commissioners.

Cllr. Theresa Byrne was elected Vice-Chairperson.

At the Town Council meeting on 12 June, Cllr. Purcell congratulated the Leinster Leader on the content and appearance of its new newspaper format. “There is a huge amount of information about Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth,” he said thanking Leader staff for covering Town Council and local authority meetings.

The chairman also sent best wishes to Leixlip journalist, Sarah Egan, who got married on 9 June.
