A Newbridge man has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court on 64 charges of indecent assault.

A Newbridge man has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court on 64 charges of indecent assault.

The alleged assaults took place between 1979 to 1988 at several locations around Naas and Newbridge.

There were three alleged victims, all young girls. Two of them are nieces of the defendant and the other was a friend of theirs.

They were aged 7 to 12 years of age when the alleged offences took place.

As a condition of bail, which was granted at Naas District Court last Wednesday, March 28, the defendant is not permitted to have any contact directly or indirectly with the victims, or his granddaughter.

He must also sign on weekly at Newbridge Garda Station.

Because of the danger of identifying the victims given that they are related to him, Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed a reporting restriction on identifying the defendant.
