GAA honours Earley family

David Earley, his son, is pictured above being presented with the GAA President’s Family Award for 2011 by Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Criostóir O’Cuana.

David’s father Dermot passed away aged 62 in June last year.

The well-known Roscommon man was a long-time Newbridge resident and Sarsfields club stalwart, as well as a former manager of the Kildare football team.

The former Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces starred for Roscommon for 20 years. He won two GAA All Stars in a distinguished career. His wife, Mary, and six children, including his son, Dermot, a GAA All Star winner with Kildare, received the family award at the GAA President’s Awards 2011 in Croke Park, Dublin.
