Newbridge bomb scare

A number of houses had to be evacuated in Dara Park housing estate last Monday evening after a bomb scare in a nearby lane way.

A number of houses had to be evacuated in Dara Park housing estate last Monday evening after a bomb scare in a nearby lane way.

Gardai were alerted to the suspicious device which was made to look like a bomb at 4.15pm on Monday,July 22 last.

The Army EOD arrived at 6.20pm and carried out a controlled explosion on the device which was stashed in the lane way.

Sgt James O’Sullivan of Newbridge Garda Station said there were no exlosives in the device however it was ‘made to look like a bomb’. House to house enquiries were carried out at the time.
