Wall to Wall leadership for southern Lilywhites

LABOUR councillor, Mark Wall, has been elected Mayor of Kildare unopposed.

LABOUR councillor, Mark Wall, has been elected Mayor of Kildare unopposed.

In the presence of his father, Kildare South TD, Jack, mother, Ann, wife, Michelle and sons, Eoin and CAthal, Athy based Cllr. Wall (43) took over from Fine Gael’s Michael Spike Nolan at the Council’s agm on Friday, 28 June.

A former quality manager with Smurfits for twelve years, Cllr. Wall works as a Parliamentary assistant to his father. He became a county councillor in 2009.

Celbridge based Cllr. Kevin Byrne was elected Deputy Mayor, also unopposed, in what will be a historic last year for the currently constituted 25 person Council chamber.
