Drivers injured as articulated lorries collide

A collision between two articulated lorries on the M7 near Monasterevin has left both drivers in hospital - one critically injured.

A collision between two articulated lorries on the M7 near Monasterevin has left both drivers in hospital - one critically injured.

The incident occurred at 8am on, Monday, May 16 on the southbound lane of the motorway, south of the Monasterevin exit.

Gardai closed the motorway, diverting traffic along the old road until the entrance back onto the motorway at Ballybrittas.

The two drivers were brought to hospital in Portlaoise.

The motorway was cleared on Monday evening.
