If you love soccer and have E2 to spare, you could do worse than to invest in the latest draw running in Kildare town, especially if you also happen to be a soccer fan.

If you love soccer and have E2 to spare, you could do worse than to invest in the latest draw running in Kildare town, especially if you also happen to be a soccer fan.

The top prize will be two tickets to the Liverpool v Manchester United match in Old Trafford on December 13, with travel and accommodation thrown in for good measure.

The draw was the brainchild of community stalwart, chairman Ollie Kearns, and proceeds will be split three ways between the Kildare Derby Festival, Kildare Town Soccer Club and St Brigid’s Boxing Club.

The massive draw was launched officially at St Brigid’s Boxing Club on Tuesday September 30 when the other prizes were also revealed. There are dozens of other prizes up for grabs, including tickets to Aviva Stadium for an Ireland international, a pamper weekend at the Hotel Keadeen, a year’s membership at the Curragh, and vouchers for top local restaurants.

The tickets are E2 and available from any member of the committee or from pubs and restaurants in the town.

The draw will be held on November 22 during the Soccer Club’s dinner dance at Kildare House Hotel.

“I had the two tickets for the Liverpool Man United soccer match and thought we should run the draw for the Kildare Derby Festival, then added in the Soccer Club because the prize is right for them and also the boxing club because I know how much they need the funds,” Ollie Kearns said.

“I know the people of Kildare will support us, they always do,” Mr Kearns added.
