Hollywood star Chris O’Dowd is the latest celebrity to lend his support via Twitter for the return of a lurcher who went missing from Sallins.
He joins other famous faces including Kathryn Thomas, Sinead Desmond, Sile Seoige, Sinead Kennedy, PJ Gallagher, Kenneth Egan and athlete Derval O’Rourke in retweeting support for the campaign.
Lurcher Erin, a rescue dog, went missing along along with another animal, Jodie, from a boarding kennels in Sallins in the early hours of May 27. Jodie, also a lurcher, was successfully recovered, and a reward of €1,000 is now being offered for Erin’s return.
Erin is a brown, striped female lurcher with a very distinctive “hanging” lower lip.
Philomena Mooney, secretary of Great Hounds in Need, a rescue organisation for unwanted hounds, said: “We’re so relieved that Jodie has been found but we desperately want to get Erin back safely too. We rescued Erin from a dog pound before Christmas. Erin is very much loved and wanted and has a fantastic life waiting for her with us. Please let Erin come home so we can keep our promise to give her a better life.”
If anyone has any information on Erin’s whereabouts please ring or text 086 3218132 or 087 0987064.
A Facebook page has been set up for the campaign - please search for “Help Get Jodie and Erin Home” for more information.
