The goodwill and support from local businesses was heralded at the launch of the REHAB Kildare Person of the Year 2013 at the Keadeen Hotel last week.
Members of the Naas Care of the Aged, the 2012 winner, were welcomed by Matt Browne, Awards Coordinator. Mr Browne, along with fellow committee members and founding members Seamus Morahan and Vincent Kelly, as well as Community Liaison officer, Edel Browne-Curran were joined by Mayor of Kildare, Cllr Micheal Nolan who represented sponsor Kildare County Councilr.
Matt also noted the generosity of Naas Printing Ltd, Business Excellence.ie, Joe Mallon Motors, Bord Na Mona and other sponsors who have generously continued to sponsor individual awards.
“We have seen the emergence of community beavers like Berney Flanagan of North Kildare shine in recent years as did last year’s winners, Naas Care of the Aged,” explained Matt Browne, “These award winners continue providing vital community services to vulnerable members of society, particularly the elderly living in isolated areas and groups working with special needs as many government services in these areas have ceased due to budget cuts”. Over the coming weeks, the Leinster Leader will include a nomination form where you can nominate your local hero. Closing date is Friday 19 July.
