Newbridge Kildare Lions Club has launched its Christmas Toy Appeal to help needy families, which will run untilDecember 7.
This is the third year such an appeal has been organised locally by the club and the aim is to make Christmas the special occasion it should be for as many children as possible, regardless of the financial constraints placed on many families in the current economic climate.
All toys collected will be donated to Family Resource Centres in Newbridge, Kildare and the Curragh and will, in turn, be passed on to deserving families in each of the three areas this Christmas.
There will be five collection points in Newbridge – AIB, Bank of Ireland, Newbridge Credit Union, Permanent TSB and Ulster Bank along with two separate collection points in Kildare town – Bank of Ireland and Kildare Credit Union.
“This initiative is aimed at helping needy families in each of the three local areas this Christmas. We are not seeking financial donations but instead we are asking people to drop a new toy into any one of the collection boxes”, said John Casserly, Newbridge Kildare Lions Club.
“Some families are really feeling the effects of the current economic situation and we hope, through this appeal, to make this a special and joyous Christmas for as many children as possible in the Newbridge, Kildare and Curragh areas”.
