Robert Rogulski whose address was given as Ballymany Park, Newbridge was before the court.

He was prosecuted for theft at the Tesco store at Blessington road, Naas, on June 18 last.

The incident occurred at 3pm, Inspector Patsy Glennon told the court.

The man took two bottles of vodka, opened the bottles and poured the contents into water bottles.

He was stopped by security personnel and the goods were of no use because the bottles had been opened.

Solicitor Conal Boyce said he defendant, who was not long in Ireland, had no previous convictions.

Judge Des Zaidan imposed a community service order of 120 hours.
