KILDARE County Council’s new committees are beginning to take shape follow the recent election.
A large number of positions were filled by majority voting at the AGM on 6 June.
The Council opted for majority voting against a proposal from Sinn Fein to follow the d’Hondt system.
The new chairpersons of the Strategic Policy Committees are: Suzanne Doyle (Planning & Economic Devleopment), Darren Scully (Transportation), Paddy Kennedy (Housing, Sean Power (Environment) and Kevin Byrne.
Cllrs. Paul Ward (FF), Mark Stafford (FG) and Padraig McEvoy (Ind) will comprise the Audit Committee.
On the Dublin Mid Leinster Regional Health Forum, the Councill will be presented by Cllrs. Anthony Larkin (Ind), Mark Dalton (FF), Paul Ward (FF), Brendan Weld (FG) and Thomas Redmond (SF).
Seven members will sit on the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board, Cllrs. Reada Cronin (SF), Weld (FG), Fiona McLoughlin Healy (FG), Teresa Murray (Ind), Ann Breen (Lab), Naoise O’Cearuil (FF) and Dara Fitzpatrick (FF).
Cllrs. Mark Wall (Lab), Suzanne Doyle (FF) and Fintan Brett (FF) were elected to the Local Community Development Committee.
Cllr. Murray (Ind) is the single KCC representative on the Regional Drugs Taskforce, while Cllr. Martin Miley (FF) is it rep on the Social and Environmental Panel for the Midlands District of Coillte Teoranta.
Cllrs. Robert Power (FF), Fintan Brett (FG) and Seamie Moore (Ind) will represent it on the Kildare Community Network company.
The Kildare Heritage Forum reps are Cllr. Murray (Ind), James Lawless (FF) and Ivan Keatley (FG). Cllr Keatley and Will Callaghan (FF) will grace the Kildare Sports and Leisure Facilities Ltd.
