AN appeal to the public by the Maynooth Kilcock Lions club to provide aid to the Philipines has been more successful than expected.

The Kildare based branch of non profit international Lions organisation has been doing its bit collecting goods, toys and other goods to be sent via the Red Cross.

On Friday, 15 November, they began collecting clothes, food and toys, which were dropped to a call centre at Olympic Car Sales, Maynooth, owned by Lions member, Farrell O’Boy.

According to Arthur O’Hara, the club was to hand over a lot of goods to the Irish Red Cross at the K Club on Wednesday, 20 November.

But such was the amount of goods the public had donated that the load was too big and the transfer was postponed until Sunday company.

A delighted Mr. O’Hara said the response was “incredible.” Thanking everybody he said they would continue to accept goods. Those wishing to donate should got to www.maynoothkilocklionsclub.org for more information
