Saturday 14 September from 12 noon at George’s Street Ramble along to George’s St. and choose from an exciting assortment of food to tempt your palate! Lots of eateries with different cuisines will participate, offering you plenty of choice for lunch or a snack on the move. This was a very popular aspect of Newbridge 200 celebrations last year so be sure to call by.
The free Grand Finale Concert Sunday 15 September, from 6pm at the Liffey Linear Park
For the first time ever, permission has been granted to hold a Concert at The Strand at Newbridge’s Liffey Linear Park. Overcoming the logistical difficulties of erecting a stage, this free Finalé Concert will be held at the unique venue at the heart of Newbridge and is sure to be a magical location for a fantastic end of Summer gig. It’s the town’s very own ‘Band on the Strand’. There will be some crafts and refreshments stalls on hand to add to the atmosphere and a wonderful line up of entertainment which kicks off at 6pm.
It is sponsored by Newbridge Credit Union.
St. Conleth’s Community Games Variety Group will get the show on the road, with their winning act. Tammy Browne, finalist in the 2013 Voice of Ireland TV show on RTE earlier this year, will take to the stage at 7.p.m. The Voice experience has given her a huge profile and extended following as she and her band ‘Radio Shack’ gig across the length and breadth of the country from her Munster base. The Concert headline act is none other than Newbridge’s own Luka Bloom! Bringing the title theme of ‘Grassroots’ to the fore, it is wonderful that Luka is able to come back to where it all began for him. Fresh from a busy summer, he will be joined by a group of talented friends (including Steve Cooney, Robbie Harris and Robbie Perry) to help him create a fantastic festival sound for Newbridge.
A Fireworks Display over the Liffey will follow the Finalé Concert to wrap up the inaugural Newbridge Grassroots Festival, promising to bring the action packed four-day programme to a spectacular close. One not to be missed!
Newbridge’s pubs are offering music over the four nights of the Festival, so you can rock day and night! Check out posters in individual pubs for details of music on offer.
