Carers Association 10K attracts great crowd in Newbridge

The Carers Association 10k mini marathon took place in Newbridge on Sunday to a blaze of sunshine.

The Carers Association 10k mini marathon took place in Newbridge on Sunday to a blaze of sunshine.

The event, described as a ‘one size fits all’, attracted hundreds of runners, joggers, and walkers who left Ryston Sports and Social CIub at 12 noon for the scenic 10k route along the Curragh.

“We’re very grateful to both Kildare Sports Partnership and the Newbridge Athletic Club for assisting us with this event and to Ryston Sports and Social Club who have very kindly offered their premises for the day,” said Anne Flynn, Regional Manager of the Carers Association.

“Each successful participant received a medal for their efforts.”

Winners of the male category were: 1st: Paul Campbell Newbridge Club, 2nd: Stephen Mulholland from Clondalkin, 3rd: Brian Byrne from Curragh Kildare.

Ladies Category: 1st: Michelle Cox, Newbridge Club, 2nd: Tara Malone, Enniskillen Club, 3rd Elaine Conlon Newbridge Club. while Albert Keenan won the veterans group. “Many thanks to all who came out on the day and supported Family Carers.”
