Last Friday, June 28, saw a celebration in Allen church of the 50th anniversary of the ordination of Fr. Eddie Moore, the parish priest of the parish.

Bishop Jim Moriarty led a large group of priests in the mass.
A Tullow native, Fr. Eddie is the pp of a large parish that includes Milltown, Allen, Kilmeague, Allenwood and Roberstown.

As well as parishioners of Allen, Fr. Eddies family, former parishioners from Kildare, Kill, Portlaoise, Kilcock and many of his other friends from clubs and associations attended the celebrations.
Fr. Eddie is a native of Tullow, was educated in Knockbeg College and trained in St Patrick’s College Maynooth before being ordained on June 23, 1963.
His first appointment was to a Liverpool Diocese. The large volume of vocations at that time meant there were no vacancies in the Kildare and Leighlin.

In all places of appointment Fr. Eddie is remembered well, through friends and parishioners.

In Allen Parish Fr. Eddie has worked with the various parish committees to organise the extensive renovations of the three churches, the Parish Church of Allen, Milltown Church and more recently in Allenwood Church.

He has also been involved in a number of other building projects such as the new national school in Allen and the extension to the National School in Robertstown.

His recent activities include the new parish office development and the commitment to a substantial donation by the parish to the RCAA in Robertstown for the development of a community centre.
