Gardai detain two in Naas

Naas Gardai have detained two in relation to a burglary.
Two men were arrested in Naas early this morning following a burglary at a shop in Bunclody, Co. Wexford.

Two men were arrested in Naas early this morning following a burglary at a shop in Bunclody, Co. Wexford.

At approximately 5am, gardaí observed a vehicle with four occupants.

The Gardai signalled the driver to stop but he driver left the scene at speed towards Sallins. The vehicle stopped near Monread Road, Naas and the 38 year old male driver and one of the occupants, a 17 year old male were arrested.

The two other occupants (both male) left the vehicle on foot and made their escape through the fields near Monread Road/Monread Avenue.

Gardai searched the vehicle and discovered a large amount of cigarettes, a sledge hammer, angle grinder, two-way radios, jemmy bars and balaclavas.

The two men arrested were detained at Newbridge Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
