A Newbridge man has been fined for having no tax on his car.

James Ward, whose address is listed as 3306 Lakeside Park, Newbridge, was apprehended by Garda Declan Cooke on January 1 last on Station Road, Newbridge.

The defendant has previous convictions for having no tax or insurance.

The vehicle is a commercial one and, Mr. Conal Boyce, acting on behalf of the defendant told Naas District Court last Wednesday, July 11, that the defendant had paid €614 in back tax on the car.

“Mr. Boyce are you telling me that the arrears are all paid up to date?” Judge Michael Coughlan asked.

“I’m telling you that they are my instructions.”

The judge smiled.

“I see,” he said and fined the defendant €350.
