However they were told that the architects De Blacam and Meagher are “reluctant to put a time frame on the completion of the development”.

This is due to outstanding information from Kildare County Council, including details of ownership and historic records in the possession of KCC, it was revealed.

Members heard that all contract documents from the design consultants were completed on June 28 last. However the project is still waiting however on a number of items from Kildare County Council, including a record of drawings, drainage levels and boundaries of adjoining properties to the subject site (including car park, the apartment building, the buildings south of the town hall and the Bord na Mona front), and in particular the roads and paths surrounding the site.

Members also heard that it may be necessary to commission relevant surveys.

All of this information is required, members were informed, to design the new town council chamber and to make an outline plan for the landscape and paving and public enjoyment of all the areas adjacent to the town hall and new council chamber.
