A valuable replica of the Sam Maguire GAA football trophy has been stolen from a house in Kildare.
During a break in to a house in the Ballysize area of Sallins on Sunday morning 30 July, a rural area, a quantity of silver ware was taken.
Among the items stolen was a silver replica of the famous trophy.
It is six inches tall and has an inscription, which the Gardai did not reveal.
The replica is estimated to be worth between E3,000 and E4,000 due to its silver content, and was presented to the injured party who was born on the day Kildare last won an All Ireland football championship, on 14 September 1928.
The house burglary took place some time between 9.45 am and 12.30 pm. on the Sunday morning.
Gardai believe the thieves gained entry after a rear dining room window was forced open.
Gardai at Clane have asked for any information about the presence of silver ware.
