MAYNOOTH Community Council members expressed their concern at last week’s agm for their Community Employment Scheme.
Members say the current head supervisor, John Doogan, is looking after 30 trainees on a variety of public projects around the town.
In her secretary’s report, Muireann Ni Bhrolchain said an assistant supervisor has not been advertised for or appointed yet.
This last year the scheme, which does work at five locations in the town, amalgamated with the Maynooth Environmental Group and a number of meetings were held with the Department of Social Protection (DSP) officers.
Ms. Bhrolchain told the agm,at the Glenroyal Hotel on Monday, April 14 that the amalgamation has been very successful and more workers have been allocated in the meantime.
She added, however, that they are concerned with a lack of action to appoint an assistant supervisor to John Doogan. “This has placed a huge burden on him,” she said marking him out for the work he has done. The Council hopes the situation will be rectified “in the next month or two”.
Re-elected Community Council chairperson, Tom McMullon, said Mr. Doogan had brought the office up to a very professional standard
Paul Crogan said they had met all DSP requirements. pointing to work at five locations.
