Newbridge Access Group has called on holders of disabled parking permits to use ‘the card with respect’in Newbridge.
The group have recently been informed by Kildare County Council that some people with disabled parking permits are misusing them in Newbridge particularly around Cutlery Road.
“We are working with KCC and Irish Wheelchair Association to stop this misuse immediately,” said Gerard McLoughlin of NAG.
“Traffic wardens and gardai are entitled to put parking fines on any vehicle that misuses these cards or which is parked over the allotted time allowed. Newbridge Access Group does not condone the misuse of disabled parking permits as it is illegal.”
The group also supports all efforts by Kildare County Council to eliminate the misuse of the permits. “We would like to advise holders of disabled parking permits to use this valuable card with respect and to follow the correct regulations as stated by the Irish Wheelchair Association who are directly responsible for administering these cards,” he added. The parking permit must only be used by permit holders for the stated time, which is clearly marked in all designated parking zones throughout Newbridge.”
