There was a great turnout for the Strictly Come Dancing fundaiser held recently in Toughers Ballroom in Newbridge.

Eleven couples danced the night away with a mix of ballroom and latin dance moves while over E10,000 was raised to go towards the Suncroft Community Centre.

John Troy and Sheena Collins of the Suncroft Athletics Club were crowned the winners on the night.

Phase one of the community centre opened at the Parochial House two years ago as an interim resource for the community until a permanent facility is built in the coming years.

The Suncroft Community Development Group has been fundraising for the construction of a community centre based in the village for over two years now.

Their last fundraiser, which was held at Christmas included a craft fair, included Santa’s grotto, Mrs Clause Story telling time, face painting, a kids disco, and Christmas Choir and music alongside the ceremonial turning on of the Christmas Tree lights, and also attracted a good crowd for the cause.
