Cllr. Padraig McEvoy wants the traffic signalling sequence at Prosperous Road junction in Clane to be revised.

Kildare County Council has surveyed traffic movements at the junction and plans to change the sequencing of the lights as a result.

The work has been underway at the location and necessitates vehicle detection technology. The council said it intends to monitor “the performance of the junction” following the completion of the works.

The council also said that if necessary the sequencing of the lights can be monitored on an ongoing basis and changed if necessary.

Meanwhile the council is reluctant to fit sensors to the crossing at main street to avoid stopping traffic when pedestrian users are not present. Cllr. McEvoy was told that a suitable source of funding must be found.
