TWO Naas men were detained by gardai following a drugs bust in the town on Friday.

As part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Naas area, detectives from Naas assisted by members from the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) stopped and searched a car in Naas area on Friday last at 2pm.

They found cannabis resin with an estimated street value of E34,000 . Two men, aged 40 and 41, were arrested at the scene and conveyed to Naas Garda Station. Both were detained under the provisions of Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

In a follow-up operation on Friday last an apartment inthe Monread area was searched and leading to the discovery of cocaine, cannabis herb and cannabis resin. These drugs had an estimated value of E83,000. Cash and drug paraphernalia was also recovered.

Both men were released at different times on Saturday (Ocotber 6) and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
