If you’re looking for a way to undo a little bit of the damage of Christmas day then you could do worse than consider two fun-runs that are taking part on St. Stephen’s Day.
In Maynooth, there will be a 3kms run in the grounds of the Carton Estate in aid of the 3Ts suicide prevention charity in memory of Deirdre Cusker, who died from suicide in 2010. This is the second official ‘Run for Mum’.
Last year saw 200 people taking part in the event which starts at the entrace to Carton Avenue at the end of Maynooth’s Main Street. It then follows a 3km loop that includes Carton Avenue and the old Dublin Road in Maynooth.
More than €4,000 was raised in the process with the charity 3Ts benefiting.
Runners, joggers and walkers are all welcome – as well as your favourite pets – for a fun and friendly outing to work off the Christmas dinner and continue the festive spirit for a great cause.
There will be prizes for the first three runners home as well as the most coveted award for the best dressed on the day.
Refreshments will be served afterwards in O’Neill’s Pub, Main Street, Maynooth.
The event starts at 12 noon and costs €10. Contact Brendan Coffey on 0876873079 for more information.
Meanwhile in Prosperous, local GAA club, Caragh GFC is organising a 5km run in aid of the local branch of Vincent de Paul.
The event will start at St. Farnan’s GAA grounds at 11am and will feature two loops of the Downings/Hatters Cross/Prosperous Village route.
The cost is €10 for individuals or €15 for families.
There will be a refreshments and showers provided afterwards.
