The body of a Naas woman was recovered from the River Liffey near Brannockstown this morning (Wednesday, January 4) at about 10.30.

61 year old Mary Prendergast had been reported missing by her husband from their Kilcullen Road home yesterday at about 6pm, writes Paul O’Meara.

This was followed by an extensive search involving Civil Defence volunteers as well as gardai and members of the the Garda Water Unit. Last night the gardai deployed a helicopter as part of the search operation.

Concerns for the woman’s safety grew after her Ford Puma car was found close a bridge at the Liffey at Carnalway, Kilcullen.
