Cash free parking comes to Kildare

Motorists can now pay for parking from their mobile phones in five Kildare towns.

Kildare County Council and pay parking operators APCOA have launched APCOA Connect in Kildare town, Maynooth, Celbridge, Leixlip and Newbridge.

Customers will be able to pay by phone, online or SMS, along with the traditional method of feeding the meter.

In addition to allowing customers of council-owned car parks to travel without change for parking, the system also issues reminders to them when their parking is about to expire.

Kildare County Council, said: "The Council is delighted to be in a position to provide this new additional service. We are constantly improving our services by providing more efficient, alternative and customer friendly services with the use of advancing technology; and parking is no different. This service will provide an alternative and more convenient way to pay for parking for everyone wishing to visit and do business in County Kildare. This new service is being provided in conjunction with current pay at the meter method."
