Athy band Picture This to launch Santa's Magical Trail in aid of Jack & Jill

Athy's Picture This

Picture This are bringing it all back home this weekend when they launch Santa’s Magical Trail at the Clanard Court Hotel, Athy, in aid of the Kildare-based Jack & Jill Foundation.

Athy duo Ryan Hennessy and Jimmy Rainsford have had a sensational year, becoming one of Ireland’s hottest rock acts with their chart-topping eponymous EP, released during the summer, and hits such as Take My Hand and Let’s Be Young. They also recently signed a record deal with Universal Music.

The pair will launch the annual Trail this Friday afternoon at 2pm at the Clanard Court Hotel.

The annual trail is now in its seventh year and is a popular tourist attraction in Athy. It will commence from this weekend. Youngsters and their families are treated to a whirlwind journey through Santa’s kingdom, featuring elves, reindeer and Mrs Claus, before meeting the great man himself.

Some of the proceeds of the trail will this year  be donated to the Johnstown-based Jack & Jill Foundation, which provides nursing services for critically ill children.

“We all know that there’s no place like home, especially at Christmas time and I am very proud to say that the Jack & Jill service has supported over 2,000 children since 1997 to say warm and cosy and well cared for at home, where their parents want them, including 114 precious children in County Kildare,” said Jack & Jill nurse Mary Joe Guilfoyle. “I would like to thank Mary Fennin and all the team at The Clanard Court and thank them for their time and energy in making this happen, and in raising much needed funds and awareness for our charity.”
