The brand new school playground was officially opened at Coill Dubh National School on Friday May 31 to co-incide with the launch of the schools’ third green flag.
The pupil’s helped create the new playground from natural materials including willow trees. They also weaved a hammock and the covering for a large tent as part of the project.
Ellen Kenna and Charlie Early-Moran, from Junior Infants, along with sponsor Sean Flannery of Flannery’s Nursery, and school principal, Joe Leacy, cut the ribbon on the day.
There was also a barbecue where parents, members of the local community and past pupils joined in the celebrations. The green flag for water conservation was hoisted high and proud.
