Walking Sunday will take place this year on April 22 at Punchestown Racecourse.

Nas na Riogh Housing and Naas Saint Vincent DePaul are organizing Walking Sunday this traditional ‘inspect and walk’ the course as a precursor to the Punchestown Irish National Hunt Festival.

The annual Punchestown Festival is one of the most significant event in County Kildare’s calendar with top class racing, shopping, fashion and a great festival atmosphere.

For over 100 years the locals of Naas and surrounds have walked the track on the Sunday before the Festival begins to inspect the course and jumps and predict the going for the races.

Children will be given a Walking Sunday Certificate on completion of the walk and doggy Treats will be awarded to dogs who walk the track.

The first walkers are invited to set off at around 2pm and everyone can walk as much or as little as they like.

The festival carnival will be in full swing for the afternoon.

Light refreshments will be served. Walkers, joggers, runners and dogs of all ages are welcome to come along and join in the fun!
