Garda Liam Houlihan and Garda Declan Cooke, are both attached to the traffic unit, based in Naas garda station, and participated in a head shave to raise money for cancer.

And the hairdressing was professionally performed by Tracey Houlihan of the Envy hair salon at Duke Street, Athy.

Up to last week they had raised some E800 from colleagues based in stations in the area.

The event too place as part of the Today FM Shave or Dye campaign last Friday, February 18, which raises money for the Irish Cancer Society and which generated E800,000 nationally in 2010.

Donations will be accepted either at Naas garda station or by the Irish Cancer Society.
