It is not every day that you get to MC with Keith Duffy in Croke Parke and escort the new Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh around before an All-Ireland GAA semi-final but local man Michael Gannon did just that on Sunday, August 23 last.
Media student and long standing member of St Conleths Pantomine Troop Michael was a guest MC with the former Boy Zone singer as part of an inclusion day at Croke Parke.
Michael was representing Down Syndrome Ireland and Keith was representing Autism Action as both are charity partners of GAA for 2014.
“Doing MC with Keith Duffy in Croke Parke was magic,” said Michael. “I would love more work like this. I am often in Croke Parke as a Kilkenny supporter, hopefully they will win the All-Ireland. Maybe Kildare will get there next year too.”
May Gannon, Michael’s mum added that he was a fan of the Philadelphia Rose even before she got the crown. Maria is originally from Mayo and so was supporting her home team which drew with Kerry on the day.
“Michael was guest MC with Keith Duffy for Inclusion Day at Croke Park,” said May. “Michael had a great day as MC. He was supporting Mayo and the crowd reacted really well to him. “It was a great day as he was a fan of the Rose even before she was crowned on the final night.”
