The official launch of local business woman Fiona McLoughlin Healy’s election campaign was held on Wednesday November 20 at the Silver restaurant in Newbridge.

Fiona, who is a Fine Gael candidate, will focus on improvements supporting local business, early intervention in education and tackling obesity in young children as part of her campaign strategy.

“I believe that rebuilding this country will happen by generating and supporting local businesses,” said the former nurse turned business woman.

“There is a serious dearth of business people among our current councillors. I intend to be a voice for our local small and medium enterprises if given the opportunity to represent you as a Councillor on our local authority.”

Fiona, who is married with three children to Dr Bernard Healy a local General Practitioner based in the Moorefield Medical Centre in Newbridge, also wants to tackle childhood obesity.

“Over 2 years ago with the support of my friends Audrey and Annette Ackerlind I initiated the ON scheme for optimum nutrition in four creches across Newbridge, to get crèches switched on to the benefits of optimum nutrition. Reports are that small changes have yielded big results so we hope to spread the word.”
