The annual Scoil Mhuire Community School Student Award Ceremonies were held in Clane last week.

On Monday May 20 senior students recieved their accolades and it was the turn of the junior students on Tuesday 21.

Awards were presented in many categories including academic, sports, personal development, merits, performance arts and drama. Guest speaker at the Junior Awards was past student and musician Alan Brereton, who urged students to follow a career in something they love doing while at the Senior ceremony’s guest of honour was Newstalk journalist Chris O Donohue. He encouraged the students to value both their friends and their school community.

The Cathy Walsh Award for best overall student in Junior Cert was won by Harry Quinn, third year. The Principal’s Award went to sixth year Simon Chambers. Best overall sixth year student was Aoibhinn O Neill who won the Peter McCreery Award.
