up to 210 people popped into Kildare County Council last Saturday March 31 to pay their household charge. The office at Aras Cill Dara, Naas was open from 10am to 3pm to allow people to pay the tax before the deadline. So far, it’s not clear how many Kildare householders have paid the charge on time.
The Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) have estimated that over 800,000 people have paid across the country but that figure is set to rise as they still have to process payments which were posted late last week. “We don’t have a county by county break down available yet. We still have to process the post that came in on March 31. We have large volumes which we have to get through and we are not sure yet when we will have the final figures. We are making estimates until all that post is processed,” explained a spokesperson for the LGMA.
