The builders were the successful tenderers following a public tender process earlier this year.

Following the u-turn by Minister Phil Hogan on his initial decision not to grant LEADER funding for the Centre, the County Kildare LEADER Partnership has offered €356,000 to the project which will allowed contstruction to start.

The balance of the projected cost of €475,000 will come from local fundraising and a social finance loan.

Work is expected to begin on the Centre in early September with a completion date at Christmas.

The Centre directors hope to be able to reduce the waiting list by having an increased intake in September 2014
