The Kildare Indian Association held a celebration of the harvest Carnival Festival of Onam, in the Community Centre, Kilcullen recently.
The event, on Saturday, September 8 celebrated Onam which is the biggest and most important festival of the Indian state of Kerala, and is celebrated with enthusiasm all over the state by people of all communities.
It is estimated that there are a few hundred Indian families living in Kildare, mainly from Kerala.
They tend to live in the larger towns of Naas, Newbridge, Celbridge, Kilcullen and Kildare and work mainly in the health industry, although a certain number work in restaurants.
Onam is one of the biggest annual festivals for Indians.
